Morien Resources Corp. and Carver Companies, LLC, are proposing the development of a granite quarry and marine terminal at Lazy Head to support:
-
a multi-generational 92 year quarry life;
-
Approximately 75 full-time jobs;
-
$90,000 average annual salary;
-
multiple Rightsholder, stakeholder, and community life-of-mine funds to ensure that the local communities surrounding Lazy Head directly benefit from the Project.

A Community-Focused Model
Seabreeze Campground
-
Morien and Seabreeze, an engaged neighbour, are coordinating on transparent monitoring, a direct line of communication and a benefits approach for the local area and surrounding community.
Benefit-Sharing Framework
-
Morien will develop benefit-sharing partnerships with other stakeholders, Rightsholders, and community-focused groups to create real impact within the immediate community.
Neighbour-First Mitigation Approach
-
While not used by its competitors owing to the capital cost, Lazy Head will incorporate enclosed warehouses for its infrastructure to address noise, dust and light pollution (more below).

Lazy Head will bring over 75 high-paying, local jobs to the Municipality District of Guysborough, while prioritizing environmental sustainability and community engagement, ensuring the quarry’s benefits in the surrounding area remain local and lasting.
World-Class Mitigation
-
Pioneered at Europe’s largest quarry in Norway, not used anywhere in North America, and at a significant capital cost, Lazy Head will incorporate enclosed warehouses for its primary crushers and screens to address noise, dust, and light pollution.
-
The warehouses will incorporate acoustic cladding and baffled ventilation, enclosed conveyors and transfer points, and integrated dust-control systems (e.g., water sprays and filtration) to significantly reduce noise, fugitive light, and dust to the exterior environment.

Project Status
Work is advancing on all fronts. We have defined a large, high-quality granite resource through our maiden drill program, completed initial processing and marine terminal design, and are well into our baseline environmental studies. In parallel, we have been actively engaging with Mi'kmaq Rightsholders, local fisheries, and the broader Guysborough community, trying to build the relationships and trust that are foundational to a project done right. Together, these efforts are building toward formal environmental submissions to government in the second quarter of 2026.
